Meet Tamar Kamionkowski

I am a biblical scholar and a teacher, who is passionate about helping adults engage Jewish texts with depth, curiosity, and confidence.

For many years, I have taught Biblical Hebrew, Hebrew Bible, and Jewish textual interpretation to students ranging from complete beginners to advanced adult learners and future clergy. My teaching brings together rigorous scholarship and accessible learning, creating spaces where adults can enter serious Jewish study without intimidation.

I believe that Torah study is not only about acquiring information, but about joining an ongoing Jewish conversation — one that stretches across centuries of interpretation, debate, memory, and discovery. In my courses, students are invited to engage biblical texts thoughtfully and honestly, while developing the tools to read more independently and meaningfully.

My work is deeply shaped by both academic biblical scholarship and contemporary Jewish life. I am especially interested in helping learners encounter the Hebrew Bible as a rich collection of voices, perspectives, and theological ideas that continue to speak powerfully to modern readers.

Through live classes, self-paced courses, webinars, and Torah chanting instruction, I hope to create a contemporary beit midrash where adult learners can feel intellectually challenged, personally welcomed, and genuinely at home.

I’m glad you’re here.
